Ode To Kitties...

Sadness has struck. We planned on giving away most of the 9 kittens our 2 mama kitties had, but two nights ago, 2 big dogs came in our yard & killed 6 kittens & our beloved black mama. SEVEN TOTAL!!! (After they knocked over our nice big grill trying to get to them!)

We are very sad. We loved our little kitties. In the top photo both mamas are laying together feeding each others kittens shortly after they were born. How sweet is that!?!? We still have the tabby mama & 3 tabby kittens... so now we have to "re" decide which ones to keep. I love dogs, but not these two! We filed a police report, and the cops said if we see them again we can "take care" of them... since we're not within city limits. Yah... I believe we will be following their advice, assuming the dumb dogs come back.

We are still looking for homes for at least 2 of the kittens, so if anyone wants them, please let me know!

July 4th!!!

We are lucky enough to sit up on a hill that overlooks the entire valley. (Top Photo) So just like we did last year, we threw a few "poppers" & sat on the front porch. We could see fireworks from almost every direction, & it was so fun! James got way excited whenever there was a big one or a really loud one... His comment was "Oh My Cow!"

Chylanne spent the evening with her friend, & the rest of us relaxed in our own front yard watching all the fun :) The evening was so beautiful. Clear blue skies (except for the smoke traveling up from California!) and warm - but cool. Couldn't help but sit there & wonder if our soldiers were celebrating too.

I got an awesome flag from Roberts a couple of weeks ago. It was on sale for $7.50! It's skinny & 8 feet long. The canvas is really thick and it's slightly tea-dyed. I LOVE it! I think I'm gonna hang it up in my house somewhere. It's kinda cool.
